Kamari Maxine Clarke is a professor, scholar, and public intellectual whose work examines law, race, justice, and the afterlives of slavery and colonialism. Her research spans sociolegal studies, anthropology, international law, Black Studies, and reparatory justice, with particular attention to Africa and the Black Atlantic world.

She is Professor and Director of the Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto and the recipient of major scholarly honours, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and the SSHRC Impact Research Award. Her current work explores reparatory justice as a project of historical accountability, social transformation, and the creation of more just futures.
